What do you love about FIDI?
I love everything about it. It’s a neighborhood that has literally risen from the ashes and reinvented itself to become New York’s newest 24/7 Community. It is a neighborhood that is central to everything, the best transportation, great schools, and over the next two years will offer the best in shopping and dining. It has history and has some of the most beautiful and historic structures in the city. And many of these historic, but obsolete structures, have been creatively transformed into luxurious housing, schools, stores, museums and retail; preserving the beauty for future generations.
What is your favorite restaurant? What is your favorite dish there?
Right now my favorite restaurant is Da Claudio, though I also love Felice and Harry’s Café.
Your favorite coffee shop or bar?
FiDi has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to coffee and many more are on the way so I cannot pick a favorite. I can however say that there is one coffee I will NEVER have. Dunkin Donuts! OOOOF! It’s worse than airline coffee because you have to pay to drink it. LOL!
Your favorite outdoor activity?
Running and Walking. Our neighborhood gives you so many awesome options to run. Up the East River or up the Hudson, running the bridges by crossing the Manhattan and coming back over the Brooklyn.
Best thing about fall/winter in FIDI
Walking the waterfront and having The Battery to yourself in the evening while walking Fiesta (my Tibetan Terrier).
Best thing about spring/summer in FIDI Walking the waterfront and eating outdoors on Stone Street, Front Street, Pier A and the increasing number of outdoor cafes downtown.
What does our neighborhood need?
More schools, a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s (all of which are apparently underway.)
On a Sunday afternoon I like to….
Actually I work on Sundays as I am a real estate agent and so I’m usually either hosting Open Houses or taking customers to see them. But I do love going out to dinner on Sunday evenings as well as long walks along the waterfront with my dog and my husband.
