What do you love about FIDI?
Having lived here over 20 years in the SEAPORT/FIDI area, you can say I am slightly obsessed. The best part is waking up to my backdrop of the east river and the Brooklyn Bridge. Cobblestone streets lined with historical buildings as old as NYC gets. But the most special thing about my hood is that it breaths this energy of friends and neighbors who really care about making it feel like a cul de sac with in a city. When I walk to my shop each morning, it’s a bit of a CHEERS episode where everyone knows your name.
What is your favorite restaurant? What is your favorite dish there?
Oh that’s tough one, I love so many for so many reasons. the Paris Cafe has been my GO TO since my 20s for its historical fabric embedded in everything it’s about, and friendly staff, and great eggs bennie on weekends with a spicy bloody mary. Acqua and Nelson Blue are on a heavy rotation when we do family dining with our two boys, and Cowgirl Seahorse on Monday nights is great for a low key night out with its live music featuring the CRUSTY GENTLEMAN.
Your favorite coffee shop or bar?
I love Made Fresh Daily for breakfast and best coffee on Front Street! No lines, no fuss!
Your favorite outdoor activity?
Hitting the playgrounds in our neighborhood, walking the piers at dusk!
Best thing about fall/winter in FIDI:
Shopping our Farmers Market at the Fulton Stall Market in Fall and getting all our fresh ingredients for Sunday football! Christmastime in the Seaport is like out of a storybook, and the tree on Fulton street is far betert than Rockefeller Center In my opinion. In January there are NO lines at TKTS ( discounted Broadway tickets) so I catch up on all my shows.
Best thing about spring/summer in FIDI:
Planting my garden on our roof deck, summer festivities including art and music festivals along the waterfront are in full bloom all summer long. From the tall ships during Memorial Day to Fourth of July fireworks over the bridge ….always something to do while so many jet off to the Hamptons.
What does our neighborhood need?
Some green space, a community and performing arts center, I would DIE for a pool LOL
On a Sunday afternoon I like to…
drink coffee on my roof deck watching the tug boats on the harbor.
