Tenoverten is an upscale chain of five anything but typical nail salons. When I first heard they had opened a salon in FIDI, I was THRILLED. The salon is located on a busy stretch of Fulton Street in a rather nondescript building. I rode the elevator up to the second floor (yes I know, lazy) with the building’s Super, who assured me that the “lobby” wasn’t what the rest of the place looked like. And boy was he right! The space is gorgeous and spacious and looks nothing like you’d think from the outside. Lots of greyish reclaimed wood on the walls and sleek, comfy stations. I mentioned to Adair Ilyinsky, tenoverten’s co-owner, that it felt more like being at a stylish friend’s house than a salon – and she agreed “That’s what we wanted.”
The signature manicure is $25 and the signature pedicure is $40. The signature kid’s manicure is $15. The prices are a little more than what you’d pay at the neighborhood nail place, but the tenoverten experience is head and shoulders above what you’d get at those places, and is so worth it! The availability of tenoverten’s own line of beautiful nail polishes makes the visit that much more special. The colors are subtle and rich with an urban feel, even taking their names from our favorite NYC streets.
