Ever since Vbar opened it has become a go-to in the neighborhood for when diners want to be guaranteed of three things – the atmosphere will be lively, the service will be attentive and the food will be delicious. Located on the corner of Front and Beekman, Vbar anchors the Seaport’s restaurant row. Previously, the spot was home to Carmine’s restaurant which had occupied the space for over 100 years. Before Vbar moved in, the restaurant was completely restored to expose its original structure from the early 19th century, which you notice right away when you step through its doors.
The menu is mainly Mediterranean, with amazing house specials like the grilled octopus and the Vbar slider trio of jumbo lump crabcake, pulled pork and eggplant caponata. They also have a Mediterranean platter of housemade hummus, tabouli and baba ganoush, which I may or may not have eaten three days in a row this month!! They also serve great pasta dishes and though I don’t eat lamb, I’m told the lamp chops are to die for.
Vbar is open all day long and one of the few restaurants serving a proper breakfast. I love popping in for coffee and the baked eggs dish!! They also have a great menu for brunch, lunch and dinner and a fun happy hour.
