Hi, it’s Maria. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 12 years and have seen it go through dramatic changes, right before my eyes. When I first moved in, after 5pm and weekends would find NO ONE on the streets. It was truly a ghost town. I lived at 3 Hanover Square and just felt like something would come of the neighborhood. Talk had started of the 2nd Avenue subway ending right there in Hanover Square and there seemed to be construction everywhere. I’m so happy that I stayed all these years (having moved no less then 5 times!) Nowadays there are people everywhere, no matter what time of day or night. There are smart, young professionals, families raising their young children, and every other kind of New Yorker in this very special neighborhood.
We’ve recently seen a lot of media catching on to our neighborhood. The rest of NYC and the world are finally realizing that FiDi is where it’s at! So, to me, it felt like the right time to launch FIDI LIVING. I’m so invested in this neighborhood – my two kids go to school here, neighbors have become friends have become family and oft-visited neighborhood venues are an extension of my home.
I hope that FIDI LIVING will become your go-to resource for events and information in this area. Please drop me a line if there is something you’d like to see featured. I would love the feedback. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope to see you in the ‘hood!
All the best,
